“Couple at Firehole Lake” Painting

Oil Painting on Basswood Panel. (H 24in. x W 18in. x D 7/8in.)

Fresh off the easel. This painting is of a couple looking out over Fire Hole Lake in Yellowstone Park. The man is photographing the scene while his companion is commenting on something. I decided to paint the Raven because they are in large numbers there and I always felt them watching. The bonsai tree is a Juniper Tree that had a rounded Canopy. It stood out in contrast to the Spruce and Douglas fur shaped trees in the background. I was researching the art of bonsai at the time I painted this, so I gave the Juniper some pruning. A park visitor pruning a tree would probably not be a good idea BTW.
