I had this idea and it wasn’t going anywhere until I painted this. I grew up in South Carolina where families congregate on Sunday afternoons after church for lunch that usually includes a bucket of fried chicken. When I was 20 I read the book ” 7 years in Tibet”. I became interested in Tibetan Buddhist literature and philosophy after that. I think it was these two things that spawned the inspiration for this painting.
