Oil on Birchwood Panel. (h18in. x w36in. x d1 1/4in.)
The painting is inspired by my conversation with the tourist (the fellow in the blue shirt taking a selfie) on the paint pots trail watching the Clepsydra Geyser erupt. The conversation started with him asking” Remember the movie 2012″. We talked about the fact that we are standing over a huge dormant supervolcano.
I also met who would become the love of my life and an inspiration for my paintings just a week before I traveled to Yellowstone. When I returned we reunited and fell in love. I wanted to paint her image in the reflection of my sunglasses to express how much of an impression she made on me after our one conversation together before I departed for Yellowstone National Park.
